thegoodwomen: Palestine Feb 2011

Eight Good Women travelled to the West Bank to meet and support Palestinians. The women paid for their own travel and expenses.

Almost £4000 was donated by friends and family, and this was distributed to the following good causes identified by the women on the trip:

individual families (Nablus & Hebron) who are being persecuted and isolated by the apartheid regime of the Israeli government
two orphanages (Nablus & Jerusalem)
and a Kindergarten in Hebron

Our thanks to so many people, and new friends, who made our trip so informative and memorable.

Who we are

good women is organised by women firefighters

together we will learn new skills, support each other, and help out in the communities we serve

projects in London, the UK and overseas are identified and women volunteer to help out

depending on what sponsorship is available, it is anticipated that women will fund their participation

women (especially women firefighters) will have the opportunity to spend time working together in a positive active environment

participation in projects will hopefully reinforce longer term support structures, and encourage women to achieve their full potential

we work closely with community groups to ensure that we can support them in the best possible way
